Consistent Practice, Lasting Change
My yoga journey began over 20 years ago, shortly after I finished college. At the time, I was disconnected from my body and unaware of how much I had neglected both my physical and mental well-being. I struggled with pain, weakness, and stiffness, particularly in my hips and torso. I couldn't touch my toes, and sitting in an easy, cross-legged pose felt almost impossible for even a few seconds.
Starting yoga was intimidating, but I was drawn to its potential to help me manage my pain and start reconnecting with my body. Thankfully, I found a fantastic teacher who understood that I was starting from a place of challenge; she was so patient and took time with me. It wasn’t easy at first—there was discomfort and frustration. However, through consistent practice, I began to experience the transformative effects of yoga, not only on my body but also on my mind. I started to open up physically, releasing tension and pain I didn’t even realize I was holding. More importantly, yoga helped me quiet my busy mind, tune into my body, and discover a sense of freedom and strength I had been missing.
As I deepened my practice, yoga became more than just a physical workout—it became a tool for living more intentionally and fully. It became a powerful way to nurture my body and mind, and my classmates formed a supportive community for many years. Yoga has been a constant in my life, supporting me through challenges, pregnancies, and transitions and helping me find balance and clarity along the way.
At the end of 2023, I faced burnout—emotionally, physically, and mentally. Many parts of my life were outside my control, so I took a break from work to focus on rest, therapy, and inner learning. During this time (and all the time, really), yoga and meditation were essential in helping me rebuild my resilience. They allowed me to reconnect with my body and breath, helping me balance life's demands and rediscover my strength.
Yoga, meditation, self-awareness, and intention are daily practices, not destinations. They are tools for ongoing self-care. The work doesn’t stop—it is a continual journey of nurturing and returning to your center, no matter what life brings.
My personal challenges and the immense benefits I’ve gained from yoga have inspired me to share my knowledge. After 20 years of practicing and learning, I’m excited to become a teacher and guide others on their journeys. I’ve learned that even the simplest asanas—combined with intentional practice—hold great value. Yoga is for everyone, no matter where you're starting. The beginner’s mindset is not only a fantastic place to begin but also a powerful way to approach any day, whether you're new to yoga or deepening your existing practice.
In the future, I look forward to teaching yoga in a way that integrates my experience in leadership and personal development. My journey has shown me that yoga isn’t just about flexibility or strength; it’s a tool for personal growth, resilience, and finding balance in the chaos of life. Whether you’re a leader seeking calm and clarity or someone just starting to explore yoga, my goal is to create a space where you can reconnect with yourself, cultivate mindfulness, and begin to experience the lasting change that yoga offers.
Yoga has been an essential tool in my life, and I am passionate about sharing its benefits with others. No matter where you are on your journey, I invite you to join me as we explore the transformative power of yoga together.
